Dr. Edoardo Vattimo starts his fellowship on July 1, 2025. Dr. Vattimo is our sixth MnDRIVE Neuromodulation Medicine Fellow.
Dr. Edoardo Vattimo is a psychiatrist and neuroscientist originally from São Paulo, Brazil, with a longstanding focus on obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). After completing his initial training in Brazil, he pursued a second psychiatry residency in the United States. His research specializes in neuroimaging and circuit-based neuromodulation treatments for severe and refractory OCD, including Gamma Knife radiosurgery and deep brain stimulation (DBS). Dr. Vattimo recently completed his PhD, investigating how alterations in connectivity within distinct frontostriatal circuits relate to specific neurocognitive dysfunctions in OCD. He is excited to join the University of Minnesota neuromodulation fellowship, as it is a center of excellence in DBS—a field that represents his greatest career passion, given its potential to transform the lives of otherwise intractable patients.
