Spotlight Science: Brain Power

Date: Saturday, November 5

Start/end time: 10 am - 2 pm

Description: Spotlight Science is a regular program connecting you to current science conducted at the University of Minnesota and in our community. Join researchers, students, and special guests for conversations and unique interactive experiences. Connect with researchers from the University of Minnesota who will showcase their exciting work in brain science through a day of demonstrations and exciting hands-on activities. Explore what the brain does and how it changes over a lifetime. See a human brain and investigate the anatomy of other animal brains. Learn about the consequences of brain injury and drug addiction.

Special showings of the Bell Museum original planetarium film, Mysteries of Your Brain, will take place in the planetarium at 11:30a and 1:30p. The show is recommended for audiences 8 years and older. About the show: Mysteries of Your Brain takes you on an immersive, animated adventure into the human brain, exploring how the brain works and what makes human brains so special. Your tour guides on this journey are a curious girl and her crow companion—together you’ll zoom along the paths of neurons, fly through brains and experience illusions on a grand scale. You’ll learn how your brain makes you you and that, ultimately, we each have the power to change our brains.

This is an in-person event at the Bell Museum. Activities and events will be held throughout the museum and are included in the cost of regular admission. Tickets for Mysteries of Your Brain may be purchased online or at the Ticketing Desk.
